Smart meters for tenants

If you pay the bills, and are the named account holder, you’re entitled to ask your energy supplier for a smart meter. We recommend letting your landlord know that you are having a smart meter installed.

Smart meters can help when dividing bills between housemates and also remove the hassle of working out how much you owe when you move out.

Discussing smart meters with your landlord

It’s always a good idea to discuss getting a smart meter with your landlord. It might be worth pointing out that it’s part of a national roll out or telling them about the other benefits. A smart meter will benefit them too.

To make it as easy as possible we’ve created an email that you can send straight to your landlord, just insert your names and send!
