Smart Energy GB response to the BEIS quarterly report on smart meter installations and its latest smart meter customer experience study
The Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) has published statistics for smart meter installations from April to June 2017, alongside the results of its latest study of the experiences of more than 2,000 smart meter customers.
Responding to these government publications, Claire Maugham, Director of Policy and Communications at Smart Energy GB, said:
“The latest government figures show that 7.7 million smart meters have now been installed across Great Britain, transforming the experience of buying and using gas and electricity for millions of people. And a large majority of these – eight in ten – say they would recommend their smart meter to friends and family. This is an impressive recommendation rate for any piece of technology.
“Other recent research published by Smart Energy GB shows that there is high demand across the country to get smart meters installed soon. Smart energy outlook, the largest independent survey of national public opinion on energy and smart meters, shows that 49 per cent of those who don’t yet have a smart meter – that’s more than 20 million people – say they would like to have their smart meter installed in the next six months.”
