 Smart Energy GB report calls on employers to support energy saving at home and in the workplace

Smart Energy GB, the voice of the smart meter rollout today publishes Sparking action on smart energy at work, a new report commissioned by Smart Energy GB and produced by Cranfield School of Management.

The paper identifies the benefits to companies in helping employees live green and sustainable personal lives, including upgrading to a smart meter at home.

It explores how support for employees’ smart meter journeys could fit into the context of operating a responsible and profitable business, by engaging staff in the national smart meter rollout.

Further findings suggest that smart meters can help in developing modern sustainability, corporate responsibility and human resources policies in the work place. Engaging staff in organisational green objectives could also help staff save energy at home.

Supporting businesses in achieving better communication about energy saving is the Smart Energy Employer programme, an initiative which brings to life Great Britain’s smart meter rollout and its positive impact.

Over the last year, a number of thought-leading businesses and organisations have signed up to the programme, including national institutions such as NHS Employers, British Gas, Premier Foods, Edinburgh Council and Tech UK.

Companies have done a range of activities to engage their staff, from running employee engagement workshops to distributing smart meter information internally.

Smart Energy GB invites every organisation in Britain, large or small to become a Smart Energy Employer, playing a part in delivering one of the biggest upgrades to our energy infrastructure in a generation.
