Smart Energy GB responds to IPCC report on global warming

Responding to today's IPCC report on global warming, Robert Cheesewright, Director of Corporate Affairs at Smart Energy GB, said:

"Smart meters are a vital part of the solution to tackling climate change. Across Great Britain, they are helping millions of households reduce their energy, playing a key role in our nation's transition to a low carbon energy system.

"In the future, smart meters will allow us to make the most of renewable energy sources like wind and solar, take advantage of new technologies such as electric vehicles and meet our carbon reduction targets. What's more, it's estimated that smart meters will help save us almost 30 million tonnes of CO2 by 2030.

"By getting a smart meter, each of us can play a small but important part in doing our bit to help the environment."
