Smart Energy GB response to the BEIS quarterly report on smart meter installations

The Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy has published statistics for smart meter installations from April to June 2016.

Responding to BEIS’s latest quarterly report on smart meter installations, Claire Maugham, Director of Policy and Communications at Smart Energy GB, said:

“More than four million smart meters have now been installed across Great Britain, transforming the experience of buying and using gas and electricity for the millions of people who've upgraded. The number of meters installed has more than doubled in the past year.

 “Our most recent Smart energy outlook report shows that 84 per cent of people with a smart meter have a better idea of their energy costs. And people with smart meters are already using this information to help them make positive changes, with 80 per cent taking at least one step to reduce their energy use at home. Eight in ten people with a smart meter would recommend them to others.”
