Smart Energy GB wins big at the PRCA Digital Awards 2018

Smart Energy GB’s work engaging young adults in the national smart meter rollout has won two prestigious industry awards from the PRCA (Public Relations and Communications Association).

The organisation tasked with promoting smart meters was awarded In-House Digital Team of the Year and the Best Use of Reporting and Measurement in a Campaign.

The accolades recognised Smart Energy GB’s Power of 10p campaign, which successfully drove understanding of smart meters among the key 21-28 age group, who were previous less likely to engage in the energy sector.

Within the first six months of the campaign, 200,000 more young Britons understood the benefits of smart meters and 64 per cent of the target audience wanted to get a smart meter.

Gavin Sheppard, Director of Marketing at Smart Energy GB, said:

“Two PRCA Digital Awards are a testament to the brilliance of our digital and insight teams. They have shown creativity and laser precision targeting to bring to life a low engagement category in wonderful ways.

“Many congratulations to all those involved in making this campaign a success.”

Smart meters are being offered to every home and microbusiness in Great Britain. More than ten million of the new gas and electricity smart meters have already been installed and are transforming the way that homes and small businesses across Great Britain are buying and using energy.

The PRCA Digital Awards 2018, which took place at the St Pancras Renaissance Hotel in London last night, recognised ground-breaking digital and social media campaigns in the PR and communications industry.

About Smart Energy GB

Smart Energy GB is the voice of the smart meter rollout. It’s our task to help everyone in Great Britain understand smart meters, the national rollout and how to use their new meters to get their gas and electricity under control. Our national campaign is reaching households and microbusinesses in England, Scotland and Wales.

About smart meters and the rollout

Smart meters replace the traditional meters we currently have in our homes. They enable accurate bills, near real time information on energy use in pounds and pence, and greater control over the way we buy and use energy. The smart meter rollout is an essential technology upgrade, unprecedented in its scale, to improve Great Britain’s energy infrastructure.

There are already over 10 million smart meters installed in homes and microbusinesses across Great Britain. Every household in England, Scotland and Wales will be offered one at no additional cost. Contact your energy supplier today about installing your smart meter.
