The price of your energy will stay the same (no matter the time of day) if you have a fixed rate. With standard variable, they also stay the same throughout the day - but the price could vary month by month. With a time-of-use tariff, energy prices do vary according to the time of day. If you can shift your energy use to off-peak hours and decide to go for a time-of-use tariff or an energy reward scheme, you could save money.
