Prepay customers, top-up anytime, anywhere with a smart meter

If you already prepay for your energy, getting a smart meter gives you the flexibility to top-up at the shops or from home.

Can you get a smart meter if you rent?

Renters can request a smart meter if the energy bills are in your name. It's your choice to have a smart meter installed, but we recommend letting your landlord know. Even if your lease says that you need your landlord’s permission to change the meter, Ofgem say they shouldn’t unreasonably prevent this.

Benefits of smart meters for prepay customers

If you’re a prepay customer with a smart meter, you can top-up in-store, on your mobile or online. The smart meter also comes with an in-home display, which means you can easily keep an eye on how much credit you have left.
